Directions for Honors Class Podcasts

Due Date:  Thursday May, 1. This is the strict and final due date. Any podcasts turned in before this date will receive favorable and generous grading.

Grading: Podcasts will be counted toward your 2nd marking period grade and will be worth 200 Quiz points (twice as much as a traditional class quiz.)

Podcast Length:  About 2 - 3 minutes.
  • A little less than two minutes is ok - but it better have all the necessary information.
  • A little longer than 3 minutes is also ok - but try to keep it at 3 minutes or less.
  • You may use your class computer after school or during your lunch period (I am available periods 5-6-7-8, just let me know in advance and we can arrange for you to use a computer. You will not be given class time for this project! You must find time during the school day. And you can always find images at home and bring them in.
Podcast Content:  This is the tricky part - for we are tailoring the podcasts to address NY State Regents Content.
  • First: Look at my brief Global Notes on your podcast topic.
  • Second: Look at all of the sample multiple-choice regents questions from your topic.
  • Third: Do some additional research on the key aspects of your topic - you will need to add some content - the content from the Global Notes will probably not be enough.
Images:  - You should have a new image/text sign about every 15 seconds. But this is flexible.
  • The point is not to have any one image/text sign stay on the screen for too long - but you also don't want to have rapid-fire slides that distract the reader from the content.
  • So about 10 - 20 images/text signs for each podcast. (But again this is flexible).
  • You may also include some text signs that you can make in photoshop. You can have a text sign with your name, and other important content information that the viewer should see.
Pre approval of your notes and content:
  • You need to email me with your notes/script before you make your recording!
  • This way we can make sure you are on the right track. I will email you back with any changes or suggestions.
  • I trust you to find appropriate and educational images - but the content/script of the podcast is the most important part.
  • We need to make sure you are going to include all the important information.
  • Remember - the best podcasts are the ones that sound natural; where you talk with confidence and knowledge about your topic - but in a casual way.
If you have any problems/questions see me or send me an e-mail. (mmoloneyiths@yahoo.com)
