This is a fascinating
site compliments of the Central Intelligence Agency. On top of the page,
where you get a "select a country" choice, click on world and
prepare to be amazed at the information at your fingertips. You will get
statistics about geography, population, economy, religion, communication,
transportation, military, etc. about every nation on the globe. Find out that China has more cell phones than the US (206 million to our 140 million), South Africa is about twice the size of Texas (I had no idea it was so big!), or that Germany is 34% catholic and 34% protestant. Or find out that the US spends $399 billion per year on its military; that's not only number 1 on the list, it's as much as the numbers 2 through 20 nations spend - combined. All kinds of interesting information about the world await on this site. |
