Napoleon Bonaparte

Dear Christian,
My dear brother, how are you? I hope your okay. France has been chaotic
these past months, let me tell you what has happened. France was going so
much better after that Robespierre's Reign of terror was over. We were in
safe hands with our leader Napoleon Bonaparte. Eventhough some may have
not been impressed by his height, which was only 5'3", he made it up for
it with his military genius. Napoleon was very decisive which is why he
was promoted to general and led our French troops through so many victories
over the Austrians. He did all of this starting from a very young age,24.
By the time he was 30 he was already the top general and had total control
over the army. Under his rule we were so used to winning that we thought
nothing was impossible for him, I think he thought so too. He was a very
good leader because he brought our country some stability after all the
chaos that we had gone through with the French Revolution. Napoleon set
up a tax code that was both fair and just for everyone and he also built
a national bank. He helped the government in every aspect and also hired
officials that were not corrupted. Even the Church's realtionship with the
government was better. He really was a brilliant and powerful leader.
However, not only France was under the rule of Napoleon,
he wanted to build an empire and he did. He eventually got to control many
countries, including Italy and Germany. Eventhough Napoleon had control over
this large empire, it was becoming unstable. Napoleon's biggest mistake was
in trying to conquer Russia. Russia's winter practically killed all of Napoleon's
soldiers, when he tried to invade it. Russia's leader, rather than surrender
burned his cities and left Napoleon's soldiers with no food, no shelter,
with nothing. Napoleon's army returned to France devastated and weak. He
was soon overthrown by the Russian leader and was sent away.
Everybody, even I thought that we weren't going to see Napoleon
again, but we were all wrong. He came back even more powerful, but the British
had a plan to put him away for good. Napoleon was once again defeated and
was now banished to some island we don't know. I have to say that I have
not see a more powerful and smarter leader and I wonder if we will see another
Napoleon again. ~Your Sister
