Dear Aunt Teresa,

How have you been since I left? I've been the same. When I got back I went to a museum and they had an exhibit on the Industrial Revolution and for some reason I wanted to learn so much more about it. The exhibit showed little children working in factories and I was very upset after seeing that. Seeing the way that children where treated during that time was something I never imagined happening before. After seeing that I knew I had to do research on the topic and I figured I would tell you some things I am learned.

The Industrial Revolution had many positive effects, but also had many negative effects. As a result of the Industrial Revolution, the cities of England had extremely terrible living conditions. The cities of England did not have a lot of things such as sanitary codes, building codes, education, protection, drains, and garbage disposal. As a result of the population growth from the Industrial Revolution, the cities were overcrowded. The working conditions were also terrible. many children worked in dirty factories and got many injuries from the machines. Children had to work 14 hours a day, for 6 days a week. They were only allowed one 40 minute break during the day, which was their lunch break. Finding out this information had me upset for a while but I am glad that I learned so much about such an important subject, and I had to share this information with someone because I felt it was important for me to spread the information so people could appreciate things they have now, like education. Many kids take education for granted but if they knew the information I know now, I think they would change their minds. Well, I have to go now. Hope to see or talk to you soon.

Your Loving Niece,
Tiana Warren
