North Atlantic Treaty Organization

From: Secretary of Defense Candidate, Kareem Francis
Hello, Pres. Truman, how is your wife and family doing? We just concluded our first meeting at NATO, and I must say, this has quiet some potentional. First, let me rebrief you on what NATO really is. NATO is an acronym for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The purpose of NATO is to enfource the terms of the North Atlantic Treaty. The North Atlantic Treaty basically states that membering nations should have peaceful, dipolmatic descussions to resolve issues that otherwise may have resulted in war.

Honestly, I think this idea could not have come at a better time. Especially with the world still on it's toes in fear of a nuclear war, and the expansion of communism, and many countries still in shambles after the war, I think this is ideal for providing an open forum for discusion of global issues.
However Mr. President, there is an important, pressing issue I need to adress. Aparently, as a responce to the creation of NATO, the Soviet's have formed the Warsaw Pact, whose major members include Poland, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania, in addition to others. As of yet, we have very little information on this Pact. However, we can assume thier agenda counteracts this ours. This probably entails Soviet defence and the spread of communism to create their "buffer", as it is commonly called. My sources say that the USSR's percetion of NATO as a threat is partly because of our integration of a "re-militarised" West Germany into NATO. That is all for now, I'll report more and the information unfolds. Good day, mr. President.
