World War I
"The Great War"
1914-1918
Dear Someone,
The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was a grave
mistake by the Serbs, not only did they assasinate the most sympathetic
Austrian official to the Serbs, but they also managed to sparke the greatest
war the world has ever known! This is all a result of a bunch of treaties
signed between the nations, incase war were to break out. Germany,
Austria-Hungary and Italy all alied to form the Triaple Alliance.
Britain, France, and Russia banned together to form the Triple
Entente. They figured that if they were to be attacked, they would
need allies. But this just created tension. In addition, many nations
began increasing the amount of money spent on weapons, adding to the tension!
We will all live to regret this time in history...
Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
His assassination sparked the first World War.
There was more to starting the war than a simple
assassination. Everyone was already planning and preparing for it, this
was just the spark. It would of propably happened anyway...Everyone one
went into this war thinking it could be fought with simple stategies and
head on combat. What fools they were. With the inclution of modern weapons,
such as tanks, machine guns, and poison gases, the war was far from
being as conventional as everyone thought. There is no space for horse-mounted
calvary in this war! France and Britain run head on into German forces,
only to find them unharmed, becauses of thier trenches. Now, the whole
war revolves around these trenches, and securing them is vital to winning,
or losing, a battle.Because of this unpleasnt surprise, though it is only
the begining of the war, the casualties are already very heavy on both
sides. Hundreds of men die after months of battling, just to gain a few
miles of ground.
This will truely be a sad time for humanity, and a war to end all wars...
